yesterday's museum trip taught me about a victorian illusion technique called pepper's ghost, used in the work i saw, carrie mae weems' "leave! leave now!" and i had to ask a docent how it was done (this picture does it no justice) you see a translucent, ghostly moving image in front of a physical background. same technique used in the haunted mansion at disneyland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FekGPSiOtvw

Wow, yes, so lovely, simple but very convincing experience .... they still do this on stage, I think, but more advanced projection methods ... also, there are a lot of fake hologram trying to advance this concept http://ProtoHologram.com
