Confession: parenting has never felt free or mostly joyful. There are glimpses of overwhelming joy amongst the drain, but joy's not a theme. Ebbs, flows? True. Yes. Constant? More chaos. It's late. My brain is fried. I probably shouldn't cast this. I should sleep while the baby sleeps.

And it's amazing what a good night's rest will do, and you see your kids' faces enjoying in the sunshine. These moments of overwhelming joy can be enough to erase the bitter. I remember now.
