Hey everyone — a lot of new faces on Farcaster after giving people with an Active Badge a batch of invites. We’re going to revisit the feed algos this week to increase signal and think through a v1 spam / airdrop farmer for all Farcaster apps to leverage. Permissionless sign ups will bring new challenges. :)

Honestly there may be something in the old idea of Reddit karma. IE, engagement and participation are rewarded with the ability to post Tough to implement at this stage of the protocol I imagine

I have spent some time as a Reddit mod in a crypto sub that doles out erc-20 community points tied to engagement and I will be the first to say, it does not work. Fighting farmers in this space is like damming a river with your bare hands. But…I’m sure there’s a way we haven’t thought of yet.

I think it ultimately goes back to people joining communities that curate the type of accounts and content that fit them instead of the loud and messy town hall that twitter became

Thats where web3 social can differentiate, creators and content producers do not need to have the same distribution as in they need in web2 to make a living or achieve their goals. If we end up with the same biz model that encourages engagement & click baits , we achieved nothing
