I almost got blown up for the United States while in Afghanistan. I think about this a lot as I watch how the government treats our allies and our citizens these days. I know this piece of media has an agenda (like every other piece of media) and that Farcasters like to stay in their cozy bubble, but between the plain clothes abductions, the admin attacking Harvardās tax exempt status, and the goofy ass supervillain gilding of the Oval Office I seriously urge you to consider the fact that we might be in for a bad time pretty soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN1oBfg0fwI&ab_channel=TheEzraKleinShow

I canāt understand how Trump is popular with veterans when he seems to treat them with such contempt. Treat veterans poorly and people wonāt want to fight for your country. Seems obvious.

@adam- is broadly right but Iād add that the Democratic Party have at various times in recent history deprioritized or actively maligned veteran centric issues (especially identity related ones about hunting, fishing, guns, and other stereotypically āmasculineā issues) Combine that with the āleaf eaterā energy of modern democrats and overall lower average education and lack of research by veterans on the actual policy history of the Republican Party and you get the modern day āveterans as campaign props instead of powerful constituentsā situation

Easy, you get them to prioritize what they think they hate over what they think they love. And you conflate what they are told to love (freedom, patriotismā¦etc) with all the other loosely defined buzzwords. A large swath of people donāt think to question. If someone is branded a āwoke radical liberalā theyāll be activated like theyāre the Manchurian candidate, turn off all reason and follow orders. This is the playbook and itās sadly still working
