The practice of bridging between protocols today is absurd. 

The user friction is comparably frustrating to getting booted from the internet in 1997 when my home phone rang. 

Something has to change for mainstream adoption to occur.

I think long-term this will be mostly hidden away and users might end up with chain providers similar to phone carriers, or even better just pay reasonable fees for cross-chain settlement.

In tradfi you have all sorts of settlement providers taking small pieces of txs to float capital to make user spending seamless.
