It’s not a true “tip culture” because we aren’t paying for it.  It’s more of a “recognition culture”.

Imagine if someone gave you $50/day only for tips IRL (can’t use it on yourself). Now imagine you have to say something nice when you tip (recognition). Sounds like a better world to me!
