The complaint about cross ecosystem portability is completely valid and needs to be addressed. I think there’s standards formation occurring in this direction. I don’t think there’s QR code flow is as alien to people as he thinks, and is way more teachable than using a password manager correctly.

I completely agree with him. The only way the experience is decent is to store passkeys in your password manager, so you need the exact same tooling required for secure passwords.

I don't understand the complexity involved here wrt windows hello and whatnot, but it seems to me that a passkey should function exactly like a physical key, except the lock cannot be picked and they key cannot be copied, and the lock can be set up to accept multiple keys (in case you lose your key) Allowing the keys to be duplicated creates problems around duplicating the keys -> keys can be stolen
