If the length of the snake isn’t vital information then right makes more sense.  We’d call it a bug if table columns wrapped unexpectedly.

Even for the use case where snake length IS vital, no one is pulling a ruler out to measure a snake, so it’s length could only really be vital RELATIVE to other page elements.  Therefore twisty snake still makes no sense.  If you wanted to maintain relative length horizontal snake OR straight (not twisty) up and down snake beside comparison element makes more sense.
