Listened on my flight to a great ep w Vanessa Van Edwards, specialist in science-based people skills. This interview is almost a practical guide on how to do networking. A few personal insights: ā€“ The most popular kids in school are those who liked a large number of their classmates. Similarly, we become more attractive to others when we like as many people as possible. ā€“ Charisma can be scientifically broken down into two components: warmth and competence. ā€“ If you consider yourself lucky, youā€™ll notice more opportunities. If you consider yourself unlucky, you wonā€™t. ā€“Perspective can change our self-perception. For example: ā€œI donā€™t like peopleā€ could become ā€œIā€™ll find a way to like them.ā€ Or ā€œIā€™m bad at starting conversationsā€ could turn into ā€œIā€™ll figure out how to feel more confident.ā€ https://youtu.be/VHUrdELKjDw?si=Nla3FSGltdJTHg34

When I got married, I told my wife she would inherit ā€œthe links luckā€, and she told me it changed her outlook on opportunities. I teach the same to my kids and believing themselves lucky always makes good things come their way.

I believe that the harder you work, the more ā€œspaceā€ you have for luck. Iā€™m also considering myself very lucky in many ways šŸ™Œ
