My unconventional one was while being nomadic for a few years bringing a water filter with me so I never had to worry about the water situation. 100% rate of getting checked during TSA security but made international travel easier esp in countries where I couldn't drink tap

Depends on how long the trip is - the water filter I use day to day is zerowater but a convenient travel one I own is lifestraw

Now I bring a LifeStraw bottle and a few reusable straws with me everywhere I go. They’re great.
