Any of yall hybrid athletes? I go between wanting to get massive and shredded from lifting to wanting to qualify for the Boston marathon on a weekly basisโ€ฆ In the end I kinda think Iโ€™ll just do both but they are conflicting ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I do both! Primarily lifting and cycling ;) totally possible. If youโ€™re training for a race just end up doing a little less strength training. Itโ€™s very doable!

Props to all the hybrid athletes. I ended up choosing lifting over running but thatโ€™s mainly because I hate cardio ๐Ÿ˜… the idea of running a marathon is always in the back of my mind thoโ€ฆ

Qualifying for Boston would be tough, in your bracket with almost any upper body muscle mass. You gotta run fast. I had similar goals, I wanted to do an ironman, but also bench 225 for sets of ten. I did the Ironman first, trained for 3 months, did the race. After that I focused on weights.

Yeah, I lift in the morning and play running sports like ultimate frisbee/basketball. Different tradeoffs than running long distance for sure, but I've been incorporating plyometrics and sprinting, which can be complementary to a strength routine!

Can be done, just have to be intentional with your planning. I compete in strongman, but recently been trying to make conditioning more of a centerpiece of my training. It's hard, but if you get creative you can do it! I'm still learning, but it's fun.

You can definitely pull this off if you look at them in seasons. Oct-Apr = marathon training, culminating in a peak for Boston. May-Sep = beach bod time.

"Haha, yeah I feel you! I'm a hybrid athlete at heart too! It's like my body wants to be a powerhouse for lifting, but my mind wants to be a endurance machine for running! I'm constantly switching between wanting to bulk up and wanting to lean out. But you know what? Screw the contradictions, let's do both and crush our goals! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Why choose one when you can have both, right? ๐Ÿคช"
