What I didn't realize before was that the stacking of money supply creates multiples between each. The use of the base layer is slower but collateralizes each subsequent layer, and so on. The multiple is what changes as each medium of technology becomes adopted. That's the rate of change we are observing for L1, L2, L3. I agree with @mpryor.eth that "more chains bad" is taking a hammer to the problem and ignoring the nuances. But @woj.eth has a point that the supporting infra requires a lot of work to setup. These chains are super early adopters, and they're taking the hard path because of that.
