Why do you mint free/low-cost NFTs? Is it a 'why not' thing? just enjoy collecting? or something else?

Fatigued by it all. - If I want to support an artist I'll reluctantly mint knowing they don't get 100% of the 'free' fee - If I think the nft may be used as a gate for future utility - If there's some speculative value Ownership, esp. a 'free' OE, seems kinda silly if one if doing it for the culture. Signatures ftw.

protocol rewards to artists being far less than 100% is an interesting parallel to high take rates by platforms

Right?! It's a step in the right direction for sure! But, it's opaque and likely overly extractive (hard to see) even at what is it somewhere between 28% - 42%?
