Why do you mint free/low-cost NFTs? Is it a 'why not' thing? just enjoy collecting? or something else?

90% of the time it's because there's some sort of background incentive mechanism (I assume it may increase odds of future airdrop, unlock rarer NFTs from artist, etc) 10% of the time I just think the art looks cool

I had (and still have) the same question! My best theory is you should think of them as laptop stickers https://warpcast.com/grin/0xd6a292

for the culture or statement: “I get this”, “I’m part of that”, “on dd/mm/yyyy there was an event X”, “I support this” sometimes purely for visual aesthetics

Fatigued by it all. - If I want to support an artist I'll reluctantly mint knowing they don't get 100% of the 'free' fee - If I think the nft may be used as a gate for future utility - If there's some speculative value Ownership, esp. a 'free' OE, seems kinda silly if one if doing it for the culture. Signatures ftw.

I suspect generally it’s a low-grade FOMO. An insurance against the pain your future self may experience by not being a part of the next Opepen or not having evidence that you were one of the true OGs in Farcaster. The other reason for me is to support people who are putting themselves out there as Creators

I collect mostly to support the artists I think are doing great work, partly social signalling and curating a collection of things I like.

Collecting, being part of something, supporting a particular artist, collective, or idea, the hope of future unlocks. All of these and more.
