unfortunately. have to learn the hard way to prototype -> convert whole codebase instead of just jumping in

Yes, there have been a few times especially early on in my dev journey where “burn it to the ground, start over” was the correct decision. The code goes away, but the thought process and learnings stay with you

Sounds healthier that my approach... Spend another 3 days digging the hole deeper, then an afternoon trying to convince anyone in the team that will listen that we should merge it ("I'll add a todo to go back and rethink it later!") before eventually conceding that it's garbage and getting a beer.
