Does retraining have a bad rep because it’s our egos at play or because it’s actually more entropic than training a new generation on new things? 

(Probably more philosophical than the jobs channel cares for, seemed like best mix of people :)

personally feels like there could be opportunities where "dead end textbook publishing" has massive use in this emergent tech space.

Us oldsters like to learn new things (at least I do) and I badly need to retrain for a new career and I'm at a dead end in textbook publishing and could possibly be laid off later this year. Trying to figure out what to do. I make a pittance with photography unfortunately and don't have the $ to retire now.

I think a mixture of the ego thing + sunk cost fallacy
