I'm looking for houses in Madrid (we're 4 in total)

We're looking for short term (3-6 months). Most do not accept a non Spanish work contract, which makes it more difficult

Checked Idealista and Spotahome, and houses fly in a matter of hours or at least 2-3 days

Any help would be much appreciated

Here is what I've learned in the last couple of weeks, when looking to rent a house in Spain, in 2025:

- Average price for 2 bedrooms is ~1200 Euros in city centre. ~900 outside
- Spanish agencies are strict with renters having 1+ year Spanish permanent work contract
- 2 months deposit + 1 month entry rent upfront.
- There may be agency fees which is ~1 month rent worth.
- You are required to be a Spanish citizen. If not, you need an NIE number.
- Private landlords are easier to deal with and more flexible, but are much difficult to find

Unfortunately this is pretty standard! :( I think agency fees are illegal now though but I’m sure they’ve figured out workarounds. You can still check out your rights and then ask them for an hoja de reclamación. Sometimes that will get them to change their tune.
