When I was a 14, I used to design houses for my future self — looking back on them now I see ways in which my childhood thinking is unbounded: crazy ideas, who cares about the laws of physics But my thinking is also very constrained. For design choices I had experienced, like a kitchen, I keep recycling similar themes. I think when you are a child, you think everything is possible, but as you start experiencing the world, you think that only your experience is possible. As you experience more, you start making connections, and start to see how new things are possible again.

These pages are 11 years old now — they’ve aged pretty well!

Wow how many bedrooms and bathrooms did you usually think were necessary for your future home? I think my drawings were more like 100 acre estate plans with an intense focus on security 😂

It may seem off-topic but I recommend playing Blue Prince if you like video games. I think it could be very much akin to what you shared, and it could really strike a chord with these memories and this passion of designing rooms.
