"Why do people not participate in governance?" Goes to vote -> Two on-chain transactions to cast one vote. Even though it's a rollup that's $1 per vote. So ~$5 on 10 onchain transactions just for signaling. Can't ask this from the masses. Terrible UX and expensive. We won't see governance participation like this.

So how about a proper frame solves this: Create /op-gov channel - Frame checks if you have $OP in your wallet/delegated at the moment of voting, the wallet must be linked in farcaster profile. - You vote/signal by using options yes/no/abstain and there is an URL to the forum discussion/docs. - Frame gas come from DAO

Honestly we enjoy the voting 🗳️ process but agree there may be a bit too much friction for new users.

ICP applications can control threshold Ethereum keys, and you can easily build these types of voting mechanisms that in the end use the threshold keys to sign and execute Ethereum/EVM transactions on chain.

Perhaps a side note but another reason is lack of clarity around personal liability risk that may exist when the typical corporate structures are not in place.

I believe if people are incentivized to participate, which one of the proposals have this in it they will & if people see that their vote / voice matters. The incentivized thing a bonus in my opinion, I believe if we can show the masses their opinion matters it would drastically increase governance participation.

To me this has never been a problem, since I also look at the tokens I get in an airdrop as a mean to also fund the cost or participating in governance and paying the fees that it costs. Selling 50 OP tokens should cover gas costs for quite some time.

classic economics: Make things you want to discourage cost money. Make things you want to encourage cheap/free. don't some projects handle this by just requiring signing?
