please correct me if this doesn't follow, but it sounds like you are saying that "right click - save" is the root of the problem here

like there's no scarcity beyond speculative scarcity and no real reason to actually own these assets

i genuinely think lack of (discovered) demand is the main issue.

robust secondary markets work because people actually want the thing in the first place — more than they want to flip it. without that, there's no foundational signal of interest and therefore price discovery is speculative noise.
