FIP: Reduce Storage Limits @wazzymandias.eth's proposal is up for review. it reduces the # of casts, links and reactions per storage unit to help hubs scale. https://github.com/farcasterxyz/protocol/discussions/189

When we hit storage limits, doesn’t it just start deleting our old actions / casts? Nothing needs to stay around forever imho. I’m fine with reactions from 3-6 months ago disappearing. Let them burn!

But it doesn't affect the algo, not knowing what to (not) feed you - when it's lacking info about your previous reactions?

If I'm reading that correctly you're saying by losing those past reactions the algo won't know how to properly feed me what I want? Hmm interesting point, although I do enjoy blowing away my youtube history every so often to "start" a new so idk how good/bad it'd be for my feed on here.

It's ok when you do it, your call - but feels different when others decide it for you. Sure, you have the choice of buying more storage, but I don't see this working for huge scaling...

Oh I don’t necessarily agree with their proposed changes especially lowering existing users amounts. It’s always unfun when you pay for something then it’s changed later so you have less.

100% that's why, imo, the change shouldn't be retroactive

Completely agree, especially not until next billing cycle / whatever we bought so far is at current rate and new stuff is new #’s

Having 2 tiers of storage units would just add unnecessary complexity. A lot easier to just compensate people with additional units based on how much they'd need to maintain their current storage amounts

Oh this is great thinking right there. Decrease but compensate! Wonder what their cost would be though.

Hard to say, currently each unit is only $3 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This part of the fip makes it sound like they aren’t really interested in doing this though
