80% of the results on Amazon are ads This is the problem with letting content platforms use their own algorithms Imagine going to the grocery store where you can only be led around by a personal shopper and buy from the items they point out. No thank you. Going to build a different system.

Interesting πŸ‘ŒπŸ½ Over 60% of sales happen in the first page and yes about 20 % of the first page are ads but it does start every time with the the top 4 items all ads before u see one that’s not ad but based on volume which is dictated by price and reviews. And we all know who wins the price rat race.

it's worse because the format is dynamic and some sections are 100% sponsored while others intersperse sponsored results. So unless you are forcing yourself into type 2 thinking, you will mistake some results for real. Yelp is also like this It's extra annoying because many times I would happily pay the extra $1 for a quality US brand which is unfortunately impossible to find in the UI Really I would like to filter for "brands recommended by my network" while browsing diy electronics stuff
