I’m really sad that TikTok will be banned. No other social app brings me true joy and no other algorithm knows me as well as it does.

I shared this long ago, I wish this was an option but apparently the CCP is blocking the sale … now why would the CCP block the sale of an independent “private” company? Too many red flags imho for TikTok to stay under ByteDance; what I’m reading is meta, YouTube and others looking to step up the game to compensate for TikTok’s void. https://time.com/6978468/tiktok-frank-mccourt-ban-sale/

Yeah, this guy or PE firm(s) are in the background is scheming to purchase. Sounds like a lot of political bluster and noise because the financial value will prevail. - Size and footprint of tiktok - 170 millions of users - $10B of annual revenue - $100B in valuation There will be a pause to distract and disrupt the technology to be “compliant” (work around) till next lawsuit. The value is the brand and data. That and the tech will inevitably go to a firm but algo will dissolve during the pause. That’s the value to consumers. You can see/feel difference in comparison to Reels and Shorts which I feel like I’m fed paid for curated influencer content. I prefer every day people in real time. Let’s say I’m traveling to Australia next week and I need to know what to pack. I can see real time Toks of what people are wearing and doing/posting for inspiration.

I hear you on all those points, and I’m pro-capitalist. In my opinion, the Liberty project checks a lot of boxes ( see screenshot) 170 millions is a lot of users, it’s interesting how people are concerned about drones and Chinese spy balloons but seem less worried about sharing their data on a platform that could potentially function as a Trojan horse. Forgive my skepticism, but it’s worth considering for national security. Regarding the revenue figures, I’d like to see a breakdown between the service sector (influencers) and manufacturing (primarily Chinese firms) to see where the profits are going. It would help to better understand the imbalance TikTok is creating in industries like retail and fashion not only in the U.S. but globally

I see the benefit here. Sadly, I’ll delete my profile after the acquisition. I’ve already deleted Facebook a decade ago, X this year (used it for fintech networking), no Amazon, and contemplating Insta 2025. I hate Zuck, Elon, and Bezos. Cold turkey social and use a VPN to read non-western journalism. 🧘🏽‍♀️
