study shows top activities to fight depression are dancing + walking/jogging embarrassing but @aaina asked me once at a party how i’m so comfortable dancing i told her it’s bc i dance a lot, as in every AM i put on a happy song and dance by myself to set the tone for the day feels silly but works

actually impressed that SSRI's are so low in this list. Could you share the article, please? I'm very much against SSRIs and as someone who has taken them for lots of years, I always felt like they weren't helping very much other than being on that pink line of "keeping me alive". If this is clinically relevant and repeatable in other cohorts this means we may have been overusing meds (not surprising at all) and analyze why ssri+exercise has this huge difference when compared to SSRIs alone... This is interesting. Thanks for sharing!

here's the study. i speculate (super subjective) that SSRIs can make your baseline closer to "normal" whereas dancing makes you actually feel joy and happiness. need to re-read the full study. https://www.bmj.com/content/384/bmj-2023-075847
