study shows top activities to fight depression are dancing + walking/jogging embarrassing but @aaina asked me once at a party how i’m so comfortable dancing i told her it’s bc i dance a lot, as in every AM i put on a happy song and dance by myself to set the tone for the day feels silly but works

It might sound cheesy, but Newton's laws are spot-on in that scenario. A body in motion will stay in motion, while a body at rest will remain at rest.

Wish this also told me the emotional benefits of strangling people. Choking someone unconscious (or close to it) really helps improve my mood 😃 (i.e. Jiu Jitsu, don't nobody freak out now)

Let’s go salsa dancing on Friday! It’s in the Marina, close to you and they have a class before they open the dance floor

actually impressed that SSRI's are so low in this list. Could you share the article, please? I'm very much against SSRIs and as someone who has taken them for lots of years, I always felt like they weren't helping very much other than being on that pink line of "keeping me alive". If this is clinically relevant and repeatable in other cohorts this means we may have been overusing meds (not surprising at all) and analyze why ssri+exercise has this huge difference when compared to SSRIs alone... This is interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Love this. 💜 I was just thinking about dancing when someone asked what advice I’d give my 20 yo self. Yeah should have learned to dance. Still don’t know how but no longer care what I look like doing it.

Anecdotally, this is true. Regular walks and (at one point) a daily dancing regime had a huge positive influence on my relationship to my experience with depression
