The Brazilian baroque styled, water House, seats on Kakawa Street (1962-1963). It was the first house to have a water fountain on Lagos Island. Its owner at the time, Candido Joao Da Rocha (1860-1959), had constructed a well to pump water for sale to the public, hence the name Water House. In 1969, the Brazilian writer Antonio Olinto created a literary monument to the building in the first novella of the Alma da Africa (soul of Africa) trilogy.
