The Inventor of the automatic traffic light was an African American named Garrett Morgan, he was an African American inventor notable for his innovative contributions. In 1923, he patented the automatic traffic light, an improved version of the manual traffic light, which included warning signals to regulate vehicle traffic more safely and efficiently. This invention was fundamental to improving road safety in modern cities. In addition to the traffic light, Morgan also invented a gas mask that protected against toxic gases and carbon monoxide, after witnessing a mine tragedy in which he helped rescue trapped workers. His gas mask was widely used and saved numerous lives during fires and industrial emergencies. These inventions not only highlight Morgan's technical skill, but also his commitment to public safety and welfare. His legacy lives on as an inspiring example of how innovation can make a significant difference in everyday life and in emergency situations.

On December 26th in the year 1908, a Nigerian called Nduka from Anambra, always with his eriri ozo on his legs, popularly known as Jack Johnson became the first African American World Heavyweight Boxing Champion by knocking out Tommy Burns. For years America would not show this image of a blackman knocking out a white man.

The Oldest Bookshop in Nigeria: CMS BOOKSHOP The CMS Bookshop, established in 1869 by the Church Missionary Trust, is considered one of the oldest bookshops in Nigeria. Located at the intersection of Odunlami and Broad Street in Lagos, the bookshop has been a landmark in the city for over 150 years. The image shows the bookshop's facade, which has maintained its historical charm despite the changing landscape around it. The building's architecture reflects the colonial era, with its distinctive arched windows and doors, and the signage prominently displaying the name "CMS Bookshop." The CMS Bookshop has played a significant role in the educational and cultural development of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. It has been a source of knowledge and literature for generations of Nigerians, providing access to books on various subjects, from history and literature to religion and philosophy.

The Brazilian baroque styled, water House, seats on Kakawa Street (1962-1963). It was the first house to have a water fountain on Lagos Island. Its owner at the time, Candido Joao Da Rocha (1860-1959), had constructed a well to pump water for sale to the public, hence the name Water House. In 1969, the Brazilian writer Antonio Olinto created a literary monument to the building in the first novella of the Alma da Africa (soul of Africa) trilogy.

December 29, 1790 marks the death of the famous mathematician Thomas Fuller, known as the "Mental Calculator". Died on December 29, 1790, the late Thomas Fuller was an African slave known for his skills in mathematics. He was captured in Africa by white slaves and shipped to the USA in 1724 when he was only 14. He was so good at math, he could do unimaginable calculations. One day when they asked him how many seconds there were in a year and a half, he answered in approximately two minutes, 47304000. Pro-abolitionists and white philanthropists used his talent as proof that Black slaves were equal to Whites in intelligence. Thomas Fuller, was a very great Mathematician, but unfortunately forgotten about history. This December 29 marks the 233rd anniversary of his death.
