In 2020, Borderlands 3 added a minigame to crowdsource alignment of ribosomal RNA sequences. Paper came out this year. 4m players solved 135m tasks https://www.nature.com/articles/s41587-024-02175-6

it's very cool when it works. as we need more and more training for AI models, seems like there should be opportunities for a lot of these kinds of games.
