Update on channel decentralization We've talked about this on the last few dev calls (next one is tomorrow at 10am PT; @v will cast the link), but we're in a bit of a holding pattern for channels. The recent changes to allow moderation tools like @automod, @airstack.eth, @botornot have worked well enough. But we haven't seen a lot of growth of new channels generating new content for the last couple of months. So rather than fully decentralize channels in their current form (and have it ossify), we want to continue iterating on the primitive with the hope of finding something that 1) significantly increases interesting and entertaining content on the network 2) starts to drive retained user growth ("I signed up for this app to join this community").

So long term you envision channels to be less of a Reddit channel and more of a hyper specific semi-closed community? The current iteration of channels feels like a replacement for hashtags.
