This is an interesting perspective. I don’t think it needs to be an either or. The benefit of supporting EOA + 7702 is increased TAM for the developer. However, I would argue that there is no upside to giving new users an EOA + 7702, only downsides due to feature limitations and security. My recommendation would be to support a smart account that is 7702 compatible. Upgrade the existing EOA users and give the new users a full smart account.

Native AA is perfect for when you want crypto completely abstracted away into a web2 experience. I'm excited about 7702. AA wallets open up new possibilities, but they're not ideal for situations involving much value. Multisigs help here, but you would ideally want secure devices for each signer and Radiant shows that's not even much of an assurance with today's tools. Programmatically signing hot wallets without signing security are in risky new territory unless kept very simple in functionality. It's better to sandbox risk with an EOA that delegates signing authority to purpose-specific AA wallets. With a secure signer with a strict allow list and a UI for managing 7702 permissions and sending core-specific 712 messages you get more flexibility, signing security, and composability with the BIP standards everyone already uses to secure master keys across multiple chains.
