i'm seeing some $30k/month micro saas sites built with the most basic tailwind templates with little to no styling, how are they doing this what am i doing wrongggg

Right thing at the right time and some luck. There are countless sites that didn't make it, but this one did. But in the end, it solved a big enough problem and captured willing audience (probably getting the audience was the hard part or luck part, like ranking in the google results).
