How important is it to self-promote your indie projects? 
It's always been hard for me, but I know that product doesn't sell itself.

True. I promoted my previous projects with paid ads and SEO (with success), but web3 requires different methods.

Right now I'm working on a trading bot like Bonkbot on Solana, but for Base and Degen L3 and working in frames and XMTP instead of telegram.

Distribution is essential if it’s a business — if founder doesn’t promote, few other ways

One is finding a cofounder more comfortable with GTM, another is product led growth

This is hard to get right but I think focusing on the value you are trying to create vs. just "features" is essential.
