Network effects are best modelled like viruses. @cdixon.eth makes this point well in his book (worth buying). A successful Ethereum will see 10-100x growth txn volume in short order. Yes, we need a few killer apps - but we’ve created very fertile conditions for this virus to grow. Transactions are very cheap across the ecosystem. There are tons of solidity developers. And they don’t need to worry about optimisations. Account abstraction is on the horizon. New L2s are popping up all over the place.

Humans struggle to imagine exponential growth. The inability of politicians to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic was a great example - despite the epidemiologists jumping up and down in front of them with the data. I see a similar phenomenon occurring in the ethereum ecosystem. Our linear smooth brains worry about the blob market and debate saturation at a 2-3x increase in activity.

I think my biggest concern with crypto is that we’ll never really solve Sybil/DiD. Without this step we can’t really build any interesting (==useful) governance technology or a broader class people centric applications. I wonder how you think about this.

Agree - boosted validator rewards needs to become a real focus. Where are all the airdrops? That aside, the raw economics still need to make some sense. A significant advantage of solo staking is nimbleness and flexibility when it comes to trying new things.

One thing we can do is encourage those solo-stakers with more than a few validators to natively re-stake a small proportion with EigenLayer: EL boosted staking rewards are going to far out compete pure beacon chain rewards in the near future. /2

The risk vs return of solo staking doesn't make much sense today. With the liquidity advantages and less technical risk - one is generally better off buying an LST . As a result the relative proportion are already falling. This is really harmful for network health and decentralisation. /1
