I used to hike in this wild mossy forest almost every day when I lived in Squamish, BC. It was literally one minute from walking out my door (not this scene, which was deeper into it). As I crossed the road and entered the forest, it seemed like I was walking into another magical world and the transition was so striking. I tried once to record this on a video camera, but the effect I felt iRL was just not there. My fav part of this photo is the cute mossy arch in the middle of the wild green chaos.

Such an easy gateway to a wild nature so close to home is a gift. When I settle I aim to have it so. Great reading this.

yes, I am spoiled now with having it so close. I have a trail outside my door now, but it's not as wild - that is a bit further and more of a thing to drive to. I am still unsettled.
