Me: Great to be back in Portland! I think I'll stay put for awhile. Also me: Oh, @popegrutch is making a short trip south to Eugene tomorrow? Of course I'll join in! (I love Eugene. Went to school there a long time ago, and lived there for many years. Haven't been back there in ages...)

Congrats on being back home! I lived in Eugene for a year (well, just last year).

If you'd like to say more... what brought you to Eugene and what did you think of the city while you lived there?

I lived in Ashland for a year and was driven away by the smoke. I was led to that place by a relationship with someone that ended. I didn't know where I wanted to be, but had friends in Corvallis and Eugene. I was going to move to Corvallis, but was staying with my friend in Eugene temporarily and then her housemate moved out and she said I could stay and be her new housemate if I wanted too, so I did for a year. I liked it well enough but I guess it didn't excite me enough to stay and I really didn't meet many new people there.....so I came back to Colorado where I had lived before 2005-2010.

Hope Colorado is working out well for you. Wildfire smoke is a problem for all of the PNW now, unfortunately. Although this year wasn't bad at all in Portland compared to the 2020 fire season. I've considered moving to Corvallis in the past too. I don't drive anymore, so I need a location with decent public transit and fairly walkable neighborhoods, which rules out a great deal of the US... lol.
