One of the things that is underrated in social media is conversations. This is different that polls or questions to Chat, it’s more like watercooler commentary. It's why I hope warpcast will take more from reddit than from twitter in the long run. In organic communication it's not the person who says the first sentence that matters (the OP), it's all about the conversation that ensues. Reddit enables this with endless subthreading, twitter, fc and clones (currently) do not.

Exactly - non-linear convos allow to fork any (sub)topic which imo leads to more depth/nuance.

Combine it with upvoting - which make appreciated (sub)threads float to the top - you get gold.

Giving gold & silver on reddit was a beautiful token of appreciation. 
Fun thing is that here we can make it have actual value.

Oh interesting: do you mean because it’s more like a linear thread? I always felt like reddit had the same threading as we do here but I’m probably wrong since I don’t use it option. What’s an example of endless subthreading? Do you mean like when you can read multiple “forks” in the thread?
