When art, nature and fairy tales meet ❄️

I was walking along the river and found these beautiful ice patterns the river made.

They reminded me of my favourite art nouveau posters, so I wanted to find one to cast side by side for comparison.

And then I find this picture captioned "The Queen of the Glaciers"! Turns out it's from a 1908 edition of Andersen's fairy tales, illustrated by Helen Stratton - this one in particular is obviously a take on the Snow Queen.

Maybe it's not the river, but the Queen of the Glaciers to be credited for this icy art...?
