I'm seeing lots of praise of this from YIMBY/urbanist ideological grounds (which I fully support), but also I personally spent months living in buildings like this in China and I quite enjoyed it.

There seems to be growing recognition that these tall towers with local services are, counter intuitively, a very sustainable way to live b/c they free up so much land for green space. 

Was initially quite perplexed by the sight of 6-8 storey towers in rural China, coming from Australia where we sprawl with abandon.
