It feels like a missed opportunity that there aren’t more coed professional sports. I don’t mean mixed doubles, but sports where competition at the highest levels are best when teams contain both men and women. I can’t think of any popular mass-market examples off the top of my head. Isn’t that strange?

I do think it’s strange. Especially outside sports where strength is an obvious advantage. If we removed the gender requirement for all sports wouldn’t you essentially have something akin to a free market which would determine which sports advantage which gender? Like oh shit turns out when you remove artificial barriers women are, on average, way better at polo, badminton and archery than men. Also gives women who are strong outliers in male dominated sports an opportunity to compete in the most high profile (and highly paid) arenas from which they’re current denied. Also solves the entire trans people in sport debate. Honestly reflecting on it it feels more like hold over from more socially conservative times than for any logical reason.
