The most insidious part about it is the slow creep. 

It always seems somehow plausible in spite of everything that it isn’t actually happening.

Maybe my media diet is biased? Maybe I’m over reacting? Maybe it’s a one off?

It’s only 100% obvious you’re living in a fascist state after the fact, when it’s too late to do anything and in retrospect many things that you and others ignored or dismissed were steps on the path.
