Whats the best way to teach someone MTG these days? Im a veteran but never figured out how to get someone quickly up to speed from zero.

I have started people out concentrating on just casting and learning turn phases. We ignored any abilities of the cards, power, toughness and casting costs. Depending on how fast they are picking it up I introduce more complexity. Its been the most successful way to introduce new players.

So my wife and I just got into mtg last month and I got 2 other friends into it as well. I started with Arena, then with starter decks I walked my wife through a game step by step and she played Arena. Now we have multiple pauper and commander decks. I’ve been telling friends to just download Arena

Arena for sure imo, zero money barrier and pretty good tutorials to learn

I usually put on a YouTube video! https://youtu.be/6AGzsQcLpzA?feature=shared If I have to teach them I start with explaining lands and mana, casting costs and how to cast spells, combat, and then turn structure

Usually I send people to play the Arena tutorials, first. Then pick up from there.
