I was literally thinking about pulling this data today I think Australia is really swayed by swimming which just gives too many medals, but New Zealand is wild

Australian here, and I find the fact that there are medals for swimming to be fairly absurd. Is it actually interesting to find out who can swim fastest backwards, or like a frog, or like someone that doesnt realise that its more efficient to move your arms and legs at different times? Accross Olympic events there are many such cases, athletics also has this energy. It also diminishes the impact and story around winning Gold out of 35 potential swim Golds. VS Winning THE single medal for a specific sport. 1 medal ≠ 1 medal
