curation matters now for chatgpt because it's important to give the best answer to a user prompt. imagine if money is then involved, e.g. for booking the 'best' flight for me. at that point, it is in the direct interest of the airline to be on the chatgpt answer. this is the pressure of being a curated response

tradfi does local p2p payments well. crypto is not 10x better here. most countries have t1 settlement but frankly most people don't even notice that. what crypto does 10x better at is cross-border p2p payments. super high fees and slow settlement. this is a regulatory issue not a technical one though

with that said i think chatGPTs biggest disruption is in the workplace, which just so happens to match the fear narrative of 'AI is going to take our jobs'

sometimes building the thing that creates fear is actually a good thing... like letting strangers into your house, or building ai that can unemploy you, or money laundering with privacy preserving internet money leaning into that fear could be your moat

I then looked up what it would take to get a remittance license in Saudi Arabia and it takes your company being established for 10+ years… unsurprising that only Wise pretty much services the country.

Remittances are a $630B market. I studied the world bank’s remittance matrix and I think there are still a whole lot of untapped remittance corridors particular between the Gulf nations and South Asia, e.g Saudi Arabia <> India.

Do you think stablecoins can be used as a backend for international fiat transfers as a way to reduce settlement time to t0? With 0 fees sounds like it could work

Ephemeral generates an Ephemeral Wallet associated with your friend's email address so that they do not need to manually set up a wallet themselves before receiving your crypto.

I think the conclusion here is a 10x benefit switching from tradfi to crypto requires the full effort of the whole ecosystem and a lot of time. so while it might be tricky to build 10x crypto products compared to non-crypto, in the meantime, crypto products can be built that are 10x better than other crypto products

privacy protocols offer something but only to those already embedded in the ecosystem

this isn't necessarily the case for developing countries. and yes, decentralisation is a paradigm shift, but that is a back-end paradigm shift, and I don't think users care so much about that right now

Frankly, if we're talking about right now, DeFi is the only use-case with genuine stickiness, and it links to the profit point made earlier. but FinTech and TradFi exists, and frankly when it comes to user experience I would not call it a 10x improvement
