this hits hard. building in the space while also critiquing it is the most honest path forward. thanks for voicing this

hmm how i’m building a social network app, but grappling with the fact that mobile phones and social media, as they exist today, have contributed to an epidemic of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and disconnection.

i’m driven to build it better — to help us rediscover real connection and community and get more value out of it. and i believe decentralized social is essential to get there.

but candidly the constant financialization in crypto sometimes makes it feel like a worse version of web2, which does. wears me down.

sometimes i wonder if i’d do more good logging off entirely and pouring my energy into local, IRL community instead. smaller scale, sure, but potentially more fulfilling.

i choose to stay because i believe in what i’m (we’re) building. i trust myself to stay true to my principles, and i know my drive to build better for far more than financial reasons is incredibly powerful. xx
