It depends, what kind of weight are you trying to gain, fat or muscle. To gain muscle, you’ll also gain a little bit of fat. You can also gain fat without gaining any muscle. For muscle, 1g of protein per day per lb of body weight while in a calorie surplus, lifting at least 2 times a week.

Carbs are great for calories. Don’t overdo it on simple carbs. Mix simple carbs with complex carbs. Pasta and rice is fine, but potatoes and lentils will even out your energy throughout the day.
