Well, I couldn't resist doing a bit more digging and it’s actually even worse than I thought. A bunch of accounts (many bought at FIDs market) that are all clearly connected (not even trying to hide it lol) are launching clanker "dev" tokens with one-page websites full of promises in the past ~4 months. Some of these tokens get promoted by influential people, prices go up, fees collected, then... zero delivery, and everyone just forgets about them. I'm not sure what to do with this info. Should I point out the obvious stuff - account transfers, transactions, deleted casts, shady contracts etc? It could be a good twitter thread haha You don't need to be ZachXBT to see something's off with accounts that just started posting 10 days ago and are launching a token. But everyone buying and posting about these tokens seems kinda okay with it 🤷♀️

thanks for mentioning this. Seeing inauthentic stuff from some (not all) of the betting apps & I don't even use any of those apps in a few GCs folks talking about this & invariably someone will say, something to the effect of 'dwr will want hard proof' & that ends the convo. i've been blocking & mute which feels like the right amount of effort for the announce. do you think it's at tragedy of commons level problem?

I understand what you mean about inauthentic stuff, but what I've seen feels more like straight-up scam/fraud. Someone noticed that "dev" tokens around projects are doing well, spun up a bunch of them with launch promises, even got bigger folks into buying them, and then... no accountability, no follow-up and a repeated scheme from other accounts. So it feels like we are still facing a very simple fraud.
