A couple of years ago, I was in Morocco, and on the last day, we spent over 10 hours on the road. I was exhausted and covered in dust when we finally arrived at our hotel - an authentic riad with a spa offer: a hamman and massage for 50$
I assumed the hammam would be like a sauna where I could sit and relax before the massage. Instead, I was led into a beautiful stone hammam, dimly lit with candles, empty except for me. Then a bath attendant arrived… to wash me. And my hair.
I was so embarrassed! The last time someone washed me, I was probably under ten years old. But within minutes, my brain shut off, and I was already halfway to paradise. Then came the massage and my mind drifted into some kind of deep meditation.
I’m someone who hates when strangers touch my hair or body. I’d been to a spa once before and didn’t like it at all. But this time, I was so impressed that I decided I wanted to do this every month. But in my city only a massage costs x3 more. Definitely out of my budget for now 🥺 1 reply
