From idea to reality, p. 2

This is one of those ideas that have been brewing in me for ~10 years, and finally all the pieces fell into place and it became a reality.

My FIL is a painter (he's also a surgeon and a poet 😅), so he always had a lot of paintings, frames, supplies tucked away somewhere without a proper storage. 

This year there was a new room added to our house, and I immediately knew I should organise painting storage there somehow. And this is how I did it:

- Pinterest - found a picture of a vertical painting rack made out of planks. Thought it would be perfect to fit behind the pipe in the room
- chatGPT - asked for instructions on how to make a rack like that
- found supplies online & ordered them
- Tinkercad - made a 3D plan based on the supplies I chose and the instructions from chatGPT
- sawed the planks myself, made the shelves
- assembled everything together with the help of my husband 💜
- filled it up with paintings. Everything fit inside perfectly!

From idea to reality in a day:
- shelves + brackets - 40$
- measuring & planning - 1 hour 
- installation - ~4 hours
- a loving husband helping and doing all the heavy lifting 💜

Fun fact: whenever I have to visualise something like this I always use PowerPoint 😅 

I just decide on a scale and give all the shapes there real life measurements divided on that scale (e.g. the 202 cm length turns into 20,2 cm in the shape). 

Haven't found anything as simple and user friendly as PP for stuff like this. Am I living in the past or in the future? 🙈

Guys, I really hope you were not gatekeeping this from me the last time I casted about visualizing a project.

Because I just found out about the best tool for casual 3D visualization, it is everything I've ever dreamt of 🤩 
- VERY user friendly (in fact it's made for school children)
- flexible and versatile
- precise dimensions, easy to see them and assign to shapes
- 3D that lets you see every angle

It's called Tinkercad, it's a free online app and it's basically AutoCAD for kids. And I just used it to make a very precise 3D plan of a painting rack I need to build behind a pipe. The pipe is wonky irl and I could even visualize that!!

I just wish every convoluted app in the world had a friendly stripped down version like that 🙏

Honestly, it's such a delight to create something useful from scratch, with my own hands, AND to make things organized. It takes a lot of effort but the dopamine I get at every stage is so addictive 🤤
