The difference between Drupes and other nuts;
Nut Fruits (Drupes)
A drupe is a type of fruit that has a hard stone or pit in the center, surrounded by a fleshy outer layer.
Examples are; Almonds, walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, and pistachios are all technically drupes, not true nuts.
Characteristics; The outer skin is usually thin and edible, while the inner shell is hard and inedible.
Other Types of Nuts
1. Palm Nuts; Coconuts and palm kernels are examples of palm nuts, which are actually the fruit of palm trees.
2. Gymnosperm Nuts: Pine nuts and cedar nuts are examples of gymnosperm nuts, which come from coniferous trees.
Many foods are referred to as nuts, not all of them fit the botanical definition of a true nut. 0 reply
