Sam (crazy candle person) ✦
@samantha
Here's how I develop a new candle scent: - Order sample fragrance oil; usually I order at least 5 at a time. - Wait for sample fragrances to come in (1-2 weeks) - Inspect sample fragrances upon arrival for spills/leaks. And report and get a refund if they are leaking. - Smell samples in raw fragrance oil - Rate each sample on a scale of 1-10 - Narrow down 2 samples to combine in a candle - Make a candle with those 2 samples, roughly 2 hours - Let the candle set for 2-3 days for the fragrance oil and wax to bind - Light the candle and test it for about a week to make sure the colours and scents smell good together. If it doesn't smell good, I redo the entire process. Usually I simultaneously test a bunch of different samples together but it is difficult and time consuming.

the raw fragrance oil, that's the same stuff they mix in perfumes right?
